Tucked away down a quiet gravel road off the southern region of Bali beaches you will find the most amazing hideaway known as La Laguna Restaurant. It’s a gypsy’s playground full of color and art, chic and charming with touches of Bali flair. It’s the perfect place for getting together with friends or for a romantic date or for just any occasion and no occasion.
It is a bit secluded and if you didn’t know about it you would probably miss it other than for the large wooden painted sign that reads La Laguna. From the road you would never know such awesomeness awaited just beyond the trees. It is located between Canggu and Seminyak, right on a lagoon on the beach.
There are two ways to access it, the gravel road located off Jl. Batu Belig road or you can access it from the beach between Batu Belig and Berawa Beach where there is a wooden bridge that extends over the lagoon connecting you to a sandy beach.
This place is absolutely BREATHTAKING and words cannot describe the ambiance and beauty of this place. It is a bohemian gypsy themed wonderland. From the moment you walk up it is so tranquil and beautiful.
As you begin making your way towards the restaurant you are led down a stone paved path of incredibly beautiful gypsy caravans lining the way.
They are all decorated so beautifully and authentically. Each one amazingly unique yet they all blend together so well. These are mostly used for VIP reservations and special occasions. They are each so charming and well constructed.
You can walk up and explore each one and take a peek inside to see just how awesome they are. Most of them have low tables with cushions surrounding to sit on. One of the caravans even offers tarot readings during the evenings for those looking for a little enchantment.
As if you couldn’t be blown away more by the spectacular entrance your eyes will feast upon more magnificence as you draw closer to the restaurant. It is spread out so there is tons of cozy seating outdoors, each area is truly picture perfect and unique. Lots of throw pillows and cushions adorn the benches and chairs just inviting you to relax and sit back with a chill bohemian vibe.
I half expected to see the Mad Hatter from Alice In Wonderland sipping a cup of tea in the table next to us because it’s truly a fairy tale setting, absolutely adorable from every angle. The restaurant itself is mostly open air so the views of the ocean from just about anywhere you sit are awesome.
The owners spared no detail in terms of decor, everything feels so authentic and vintage. Even a trip to the bathroom will leave you in awe as the enchanted walkway leads you to beauty and art all around.
As far as the food menu is concerned La Laguna serves a variety of Spanish style tapas and dishes that are a bit on the pricey side but you’re paying more for the ambience at this place. Plus being near Seminyak prices are quite a bit higher than other places in Bali. Being vegan there was not much on the menu for choices for me however the drink selection is plentiful so it was nice to just hang out and enjoy the vibe while sipping on some tasty libations while taking in the amazing view.
There is a huge lawn area where dozens of tables are set up with lounging cushions, it’s the perfect place to relax and play.
There’s an indoor bar plus an additional outdoor bar where you can meet the resident kitty cat or other small animals that adorn the property.
Inside the restaurant each table is unique and there’s so many options for your dining experience. A majestic grand bed to hand painted tables with roses and vines to daybeds to eclectic bar seating there is no spot that disappoints.
La Laguna is honestly the most beautiful awesome restaurant in Bali and I was in complete heaven here. Even with the shortage of vegan food options I would highly recommend spending a day or evening here sipping your troubles away at this popular Bali spot. It’s absolutely perfect for your inner gypsy soul to soak up the serenity.
